Some things I've been Doing

This is a video project for my composition class that I shot and edited. It is a trailer for the book and now movie, Eat, Pray, Love By: Elizabeth Gilbert. It is a very interesting book and an even better movie. Anyways, I put a lot of time into this so show it some love please! Enjoy!

Going Crazy at the Mall!!

So I recently went to the mall with some of my friends and went a little crazy in my favorite stores. So crazy in fact, to the point when they all wanted to leave and move on to the next store I was still milling about the racks like a nutcase feverishly searching for the last great deal in the store.  They had to practically drag me out of the store. Okay, here's my problem, see back home we didn't have a Forever 21 or an H&M anywhere close to us so now that I am in a city that does I have gone a bit wild. So at Forever 21 I bought a basic white tank top that would be awesome for layering ($1.80), black knee length leggings ($4.80), and some really adorable grey robot ankle socks ($1.50). At H&M I purchased a navy and white polka dotted scarf ($6.50), a bow ring ($1.00), and 3 little teeny tiny nail polishes that were by one get one free ($1.80). And well that's all for now! Until next time, Stay Fabulous, Alana :)

Just a Little Update!

Just a quick little update here!
So I'm having a wonderful time here at school. There is so much to do and see in a bigger city so my new friends and I are enjoying it immensely. Since my college is so small with only around 400 students living on campus, you can imagine how small my  class sizes are which was fantastic for me. This is exactly what I needed because the transition from high school to college was an easy one. I would definitely push for everyone to live on campus for your first year. Because of this I have made so many new friends that literally can come drop by and hangout or study at any time. I am still adjusting to the newly antiquated  freedom that comes with college life. There is nobody to tell me what to do and when to do it, like when to go to bed, eat, etc. Which definitely sounds fantastic, however  let's just say I don't get as much sleep nowadays. I am writing for my schools chapter of Her Campus magazine pretty much every week at the moment. It is hard for me to keep up with this busy schedule to get stuff out to y'all but I am trying my hardest I promise! Well that's all for now! Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

So So Clean!

I recently just purchased these makeup remover cloths for college and I am loving them! They are amazing and leave my skin feeling clean and makeup free. One of the most important things about makeup remover cloths for me is that I do not like my face feeling oily. Thankfully, this Neutrogena product does not do that. I definitely encourage everyone who needs a new makeup remover to try this out! Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

On The Road Again

I went home for the first time this week from college. It's been a crazy first week at school. I've done everything from going to my first college class to riding a bull in campus.  Our dorm floor is crazy always watching TV together and stuff because we are so darn cute. My roomie and I are so adorable and we have everything matching and cute! Don't worry, I'll be sure to upload a video soon of our room. I have to go now and study *sigh*.. Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

Let's Talk Colorblocked Bodycon Dresses

This morning, while scanned through my Wanelo account this morning I stumbled upon these lovely dress delights. I mean seriously, look how slimming these dresses are on these girls! Whoever decided on this design is a genius. The curvature of the print with the two toned element gives pretty much anyone a rocking body instantly. It's honestly beautiful. I think that this type of dress would be perfect by itself and heels for a night out on the town , or maybe even paired with a jean jacket and flats for a more casual everyday look. For sure I will go out and get one of these soon. Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

Hopefully I'll have enough time to come up with some good post ideas for y'all these next few weeks. I'll try my hardest I promise! Well goodbye for now, I wish everyone the best at school this year ♥ Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

Color Explosion Tutorial!

*EXCUSE MY HAIR IT WAS IN MILKMAID BRAIDS AS SHOWN BELOW*
So today my whole family is going out for my grandmothers birthday. I am wearing a bright coral dress and I really wanted my makeup to reflect my outfit. I have this set of like70 lip glosses that I like to wet and use as eyeshadow. By wetting it the pigment becomes more concentrated and easier to apply. So I take it on a lip gloss brush and line my eye with it, then go up along the corner of my eye. Leaving the inside corner of my eye bare, I then take a gold powder and place that in that corner. Afterwards, I blend it out gently into the coral on the outside of my eye. On the bottom lashes I did the same effect by bringing that coral color on the inside, and then the gold on the outside, so opposite of my lid.
For my hair I decided to put it into milkmaid braids. First you split your hair with a middle part and start doing a fishtail braid on either side of my head. When you finish you simply cross them over each other on top of your head and pin it in place! I hope you liked today's blog post! Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

Total Twinsies

Today is my Grandmothers birthday! So we went out to lunch together on this bright sunny day to celebrate. The first thing I noticed was that we were matching! Total twins. Both wearing black and white stripes we looked really adorable walking around town today :) I had a great time today with you. Love you Grandy and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ♥

The Day We Have All Been Waiting For

FINALLY!!! I'm am so super duper trooper excited about the new H&M shopping feature on their website! When I first became obsessed with the store I was in Atlanta, Georgia in an actual store. Then when I came home I realized that I didn't have a store in my immediate area that would be easy to get to. When that happens it is never really a big deal because the store most always has an online shopping feature right?? WRONG! Up until a few days ago all you could do was merely browse upon some of their merchandise on their site, which to me just seemed pointless. So you can see why I'm jumping for joy right now you guys. Ladies, their basics and essentials wear is fantastic and really cheap. Also, boys, I haven't forgotten about you. H&M also has a mens department which is actually really well put together unlike many other popular brands. I urge all of you to take advantage of this new capability on their site and check it out! I'll be putting a link right here if you would like to take advantage of the new H&M online store --> http://www.hm.com/us/ Until next time, stay fabulous, Alana :)

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming, Swimming, Swimming!

Yesterday I had to go to an interview at my college bookstore (BTW, I got the job! Yay!), and afterwards Bryan and I wanted to go do something fun. So I changed my outfit, hopped in the car, and we headed up to Tampa where the Florida Aquarium is located. However, by the time we arrived it was four o'clock and the park closed at five. OH NOOO!!! So we ran around the whole aquarium as fast as we could while taking pictures of all the animals and just simply enjoying ourselves. We saw sooo many cute animals (like otters OMG they are little furry balls of adorable), and some not so cute animals (like sharks...). Although we didn't have as much time as we wanted to, Bryan and I had a blast together. Everyone should go visit The Florida Aquarium!

Pssssst! Here's the link to the website of the aquarium -->http://www.flaquarium.org/ #you'rewelcome ;)

Surprise Surprise!

The other day mom and I went out shopping and we ended up stopping by Ross. As we were about to leave empty handed, we decided to go to the little beauty section that they have in the corner of the store. They basically throw everything onto a rack and you have to sift through a whole bunch of products to find something that you actually want. At the last possible second before mom and I gave up, I found something. This seven pack of nail polishes (sorry I cut off the last one there!) in a nice variety of colors ranging from an almond butter to a deep purple. This was an absolute steal at $5.99, and we left that store with only that polish set in hand. I've been wearing this polish for a couple of days now without a top clear coat and it hasn't chipped so far, I must say I'm impressed. So if you haven't done so yet, go check it out!

Color Coded Happiness

Charming Charlie was one of those stores where I would always walk into going gaga over everything and then cheap old me would walk out of empty handed. Yesterday was going to be another one of those times until I found the holy grail of shopping, the clearance rack! I was so super excited as I danced my way over to the little rack. Most things weren't in my size, however, I did find this gem here which is an adorable blue ombre striped dress. It looked like a really comfortable fabric which would be nice to wear as a day dress with some flats or even done up with wedges and a cute belt. The possibilities are endless! And it was just $14.99! For those of you who don't know, Charming Charlie is a clothing store which is color coded. Everything blue is over here, everything red is over there, so on and so forth. I absolutely love the whole idea of the store and you will always end up finding something that you can't leave without. I encourage everyone to find a store nearest them and have a ball! Ta Ta for now, See Ya!

Beach Day Yayyy!!

As I prepared for my beach day with my boyfriend, I had to decide which one of my bathing suits I wanted to wear. I had two of my particular favorite suits laying out in front of me pretty unsure of what I wanted to do. Which one do I choose?? And then I thought, why not have both?! I took the top of one bathing suit and put it on the bottoms of the other. It actually looked pretty good. So my advice to everyone today would be to just mix it up a little, have some fun! Find two bathing suits that complement each other and mix and match to your hearts content. See ya :)

Birthday Boy!

It's Bailey's Birthday today!! He is just the cutest puppy ever and I love him oh so very much! We went to Petco yesterday to buy all of his presents. We got him an arrangement of doggie treats that look like cute little cookies, an adorable toy bunny, and an edible card. Also, my boyfriend went out of his way to purchase Bailey a customized dog tag which Bailey loves. That little spoiled boy! Haha well we love him very much. Go and give some love to your pets! Byeee :D

Dollar Store Fun OOTD #4

For a friends birthday we all decided to head down to the dollar store to get some essential party supplies. For her special day I decided to wear a Forever 21 seafoam green scalloped tiered top, American Eagle khaki shorts, and a Burlington Coat Factory silver flower headband to match the beading on my top. Overall, we had a fantastic time with our confetti guns, candy filled pinata, and diet coke with mentos. Just another crazy summer day <3

I'm Gunna Pop Some Tags..

Today was just one of those Goodwill days. I must say though, I have been thrift shopping long before it was considered cool, but that's besides the point. So many good finds today including Mossimo Supply Co. black ballet flats which were purchased for $6.98, a 36.5 degree peach tutu skirt  for $3.99, an Areopostale tan skirt for $2.99, and a Stoosh floral skirt for $3.99. Don't forget to stop by your local thrift store to help out your community, whether to shop or to drop off your used items :)

The Fine Line

Floral is a very tricky print where one could easily get confused, overwhelmed, or overzealous while trying to structure  an outfit around the print. I like to go by the rule where you wear one floral piece per outfit maximum. This way you can be assured that your outfit is not overwhelmed by the flowers but just has enough to still be considered fun and classy. Honestly, everyone has different styles so I can't necessarily speak for everyone reading, however, I would like to think that generally if the floral looks as if it was drawn by a child it might not be optimal for clothing. One thing to also keep in mind while trying to wear  floral prints is that the accessories are just as, if not more, important than the floral itself. Remember stay classy ladies! See you tomorrow :)

What a night, what a night..

So last night I was invited to go watch one of my friends band play at one of our local bar/billiard/ hangout areas. In usual fashion, I ended up running around last minute changing my outfit a thousand times and settled on something I thought was venue appropriate. However, when I got there I found out I was terribly wrong. Standing there sitting in my chiffon bright blue and white collared high-low top and dark denim studded mini shirt, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I felt sort of ridiculously colorful and overdressed amongst the sea of dark clothing that surrounded me. Never being in a place like this before when I left my house I thought I was looking pretty good. However between my bright outfit and the fact that I look like I'm twelve, when I got there I got some awkward looks. So my tip for anyone who might be attending something like this and have never before would probably to definitely not try too hard, I think that was my biggest downfall. If you do go, most people there are really casual. Like old tee shirt and jeans casual. That paired with some cute sandals would probably be best. Make sure that your bag is an crossbody bag so that your hands are free to jump around and enjoy your evening out. Well it looks like my horror story is to your benefit... so you're welcome :)

What Do I Think About..... Leggings #1

Leggings, leggings, leggings.... What do I think about leggings? To be honest, I used to be a firm believer of "Leggings are not pants! So don't wear them as such!". However nowadays, I am loosening my grip on the subject and starting to see other possibilities for the leg wear. When worn correctly I believe that leggings could be a cute, playful addition to anyone's closet, as long as they don't start to consume your wardrobe. Lately I've seen them being worn with a nice loose, flowing top so that the eye isn't focusing all in the hip area. I think this is a good idea because most girls like the classic legging look but don't exactly want to show off their midsection, or just don't think that it would be all that flattering. The exact opposite of that would be how many girls choose to complete this look and it would be with some sort of tight crop top. This can work too if implemented correctly, but then again might not be optimal for everyone. I think that with something so tight and eye catching as a printed legging or leggings in general pairing it with a looser top (maybe even a cute sweater) gives some sort of balance to the whole ensemble. That could work as a nice day look, whereas the crop top outfit could be worn more appropriately at night when you go out and want that kind of eye catching outfit. So to wrap things up, what do I think about leggings? They for sure have the Alana stamp of approval!

Mackle-eh-eh-eh-eh-MORE!!

I'm sooooooo excited right now because I just bought my ticket for a Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert!! Although the concert isn't until November, you best believe I have already began looking for my perfect Macklemore concert outfit. Let's be honest, the first thing I think about when going anywhere is my outfit. All of these items are straight off of one of my favorite fashion sites, Forever 21, and are all relatively cheap. Because Macklemore is very edgy that is the direction I wanted to go in with my style. So here in a nice neat list is all of my picked items with their prices so that it is easy for y'all to buy this too if you want.

Spiked Two-Finger Ring
$5.80
Cutout Filigree Cuff
$5.80
Vertical Striped Bodycon Dress
$12.80
Sleek Patent Sneakers (for comfort during a long concert)
$36.80
Faceted Triangle Studs (for a pop of color)
$1.80
Patent Messenger Bag (for a pop of color)
$29.80

#usinghotelwifiugh

So I figured that with it being summer time a bunch of you guys will probably be heading to some sort of theme park. That being said, one thing is a must, not to wear denim. From personal experience please, please, please take my advice! For the obvious reason, the heat, and the not so obvious reason, the water. Denim is ridiculously difficult to dry. You definitely don't want to be waddling around the park feeling and looking like a duck. Trust me, its not cute :D

My Target Shopping Day!

Yesterday after a lunch date I decided to stop by Target for a much needed shopping day. While rummaging through the racks, my cheap self found many things to be cute but not at the price I would be happy purchasing at. This got me a little upset but continued trudging on. And then I see it, the clearance rack. Not just one, or two, but at least four different clearance racks that range from 30% off to 70% off which was just amazing. I purchased a Mossimo button down green, yellow, and blue skirt which has a light blue belt. This was on sale from $22.99 to $6.88. I also purchased a Merona polka dotted pant in blue with roll up pant legs ,and an adorable contrasting orange belt to top everything off. This was on sale from $30 to $13 which I was super happy about. My hopes are to pair these off  with some cute white Keds and a little white tank. I suppose I was just in a colorful belt mood haha. Well I encourage everyone to shop the clearance racks at Target :) See y'all tomorrow!

My Super Great Summer secret! Shhhh!!

Today's post is going to be more on the beauty side. I absolutely love this product and it's so useful to keep that summer glow going especially when you spend a lot of time inside, and it looks completely natural. This product is a daily moisturizer that can actually make it look like you have been to the beach even if you probably haven't had that much time to actually do so. This smells so wonderful and it moisturizes your skin to boot. The one shown here in the picture here is for medium skin tones, however I have done my research and they make one for fair skin tones as well. You can buy it as a nice cream or there is an option of a foam, and lets be real for a second, EVERYONE loves foam. Here's a link to the product: http://www.jergens.com/products/natural-glow/daily-moisturizer.aspx You're Welcome! :)

My TLC Wedding Addiction

I just simply ADORE anything to do with weddings, especially bridal gowns! TLC definitely gives me enough material to supply to my addiction with all of their wedding shows such as Randy To The Rescue, Say Yes To The Dress, Four Weddings, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, I Found The Gown, Something Borrowed Something New, and Say Yes To The Dress Bridesmaids. As I sit here on my couch right now and drool over the dresses, Randy makes wonders happen with these girls. He completely transforms them and I can feel through my television the women oozing confidence, happiness and beauty. For sure my absolute favorite day of the week has to be Friday beause we all know, Friday is Bride-Day Honey!! No one can interrupt me or even attempt to make plans Friday's at eight because we all know where I'll be, on my couch with a bag of barbeque chips in complete bliss. All the designers, sparkle, tulle, lace, and bling phew! Just gets me all worked up is all. Well, that's the end of my wedding rant... goodbyeee :)

Out and Around the Town! OOTD #2

For today's Outfit Of The Day I will keep it short and sweet. From the bottom up we have a pair of patterned, pointed toe flats from Tj Max, a button down jean skirt from my local Plato's Closet, a white bejeweled crop top from Forever 21, a Purple, brown, and blue handbag from Vera Bradley, and these fabulous purple sunglasses from my local Family Thrift Center, and  finally some voluminous beach waves to top of the look! Phew! That was a mouthful haha. Well that's all for today folks, sorry for the late update tonight but I've had a busy weekend and there will be more later this week hopefully following the normal schedule.

Outfit of the Day #1 (OOTD)

Let's start from the bottom up shall we. First are my tribal print shoes which I purchased at Tj Max (yeah that's right I'm a Maxxinista ;) and I just adore how comfortable these flats are for everyday use. For today's summer outfit I decided to go with some longer linen, paper bag waist pants because it has been raining a bit more frequently here (thanks Florida for all your shiny and dependable weather!). I got these at Forever 21 around nine months ago and just loved them so much because of how comfortable they were so I bought them in white as well! It's no surprise really that my tank top is also from Forever 21 and I love to pair it up with these pants because you really do need a simple top to pair with a statement pant such as these. The earrings that I am wearing that you probably can't see... my bad.. anyways, they are a bronzey colored heart peace sign combo that are quit adorable if I do say so myself. I have absolutely no makeup on my face because, let's be honest here, besides the fact that I'm incredibly lazy during the summer, I am also most likely about to jump in the pool any second now so that would be really pointless of me to do so. My hair is in a cute little knot bun at the tippy top of my head, again because of the pool. And then, last but certainly not least, is my huge burgundy flower headband. This is a great accessory from the Burlington Coat Factory which I have in silver as well. It ties together my whole ensemble by bringing in some of the color located in my flats as well, and hey it's dramatic which I like. Thanks for reading about my OOTD, see ya tomorrow!!

Let's Go To The Beach-each, Let's Go Get Away :)

Now that it is summer everyone will be heading to the beach. Whether with friends, a loved one, or just plain ridin' solo, when you go to the beach there is bound to be lots of luggage. A perfect beach tote needs to be very spacious for all of your towels, water bottles, sunscreen, change of clothes, etc. Also, everyone worries about their phone and wallet, not knowing whether or not they should rather just leave them at home. I would suggest a Ziploc baggie to hold everything and then put those important items in the convenient zip up pouch to keep safe. I have found a very nice beach tote from the Crocs company which has some great features especially awesome for the beach which can be found here, http://www.6pm.com/crocs-jelly-translucent-beach-tote-pink. Here are some of the features found in this bag that you could use as a guide for purchasing a possibly different one of your own:
  • A beach-perfect tote for a perfect beach day!
  • Two attached carry handles.
  • Open top entry.
  • Internal zipper pocket.
  • Open pockets surround the exterior for added storage.
  • Flat bottom.
  • Smooth jelly material that is an easy clean for sand

Your Miss USA 2013 is....?

While watching the Miss USA 2013 pageant the other night I was loving all the Sherri Hill dresses the contestants were wearing. However, if there was ever a designer I've loved more than her would be Jovani. They say the dress that you pick is so very important and could make or break your chance at being Miss USA. For that part of the competition I was wondering what dress I would want to wear so I did some research on the Jovani website (my fav!), and this dress by far takes the cake for me. The striking black is such a contrast to all the shiny bling going on, and that plunging neckline is just enough to give the judges a for sure lasting impression of me. What would you wear to take the crown?

Welcome to the Jungle!

Sometimes nature can be your best inspiration. Taking the vibrant colors from the parrot I assembled this adorable summertime outfit for today. Crop tops are very much in this season and pairing it up with this blue high waisted pleated skirt really extenuates your middle section which is flattering. These laid back weaved loafers are a comfortable and practical choice for summer. Whether you are heading to an amusement park or your local zoo these shoes are a wonderful choice. To round out my outfit I added this adorable bright yellow scarf and blue beaded necklace.

Where's the Honey?

Make fashion fun with getting style inspirations from your favorite childhood television shows. Taking the primary colors from the characters I can find simple fashion tops and bottoms, then using his trademark characteristics (honeycombs) I choose some real fun accessories.Who knew Winnie the Pooh could be so fashionable?

Choices, Choices...

On a day to day basis my style can change pretty dramatically. That being said, there are many different clothing choices you can use for your change in moods and events.
Here I have shown two very different style choices that are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, the ever classic scenario between devils and angels. Each have their own uses and place in your wardrobe for different events, but both appropriate none the least. Now take your pick!

I Struck Gold!

I never, ever miss out on a spectacular sale! So today one of my Facebook friends posted that she was cleaning out her closet and had a bunch of clothes that she needed to get rid of before heading off to college. Of course I jumped on this opportunity looking through all of the pictures she posted and the prices where to die for. She promised nothing over ten dollars and she delivered. I bought a pair of American Eagle jeans for $5, a Forever 21 sweater for $3, a Cotton On chiffon blouse with a collar for $3, and a Kirra tank top for $2. SOLD is all I have to say. After a quick transaction at her house I am extremely happy my new finds. Lesson for the day is you never have to pay full price for the clothes you want so take advantage of sales going on in your area, and don't forget one woman's trash is another woman's gold!
