Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, or MNSSHP, is a special event that happens annually on select nights September through October at Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom. The party starts at 7 and ends shortly after midnight. There is trick-or-treating, performances, character meet ups, rides, and even a parade called the Boo-to-You Parade. 

Last year, Josh and I visited the Magic Kingdom around this time. At seven, we were told to leave the park to make way for the people coming in for the party. The partygoers were all dressed up in costume and looked like they were having a ton of fun. We decided that the year after we would go to MNSSHP. 

This year was super special because Disney introduced the Sanderson Sisters from the Disney movie Hocus Pocus into the party. The Sanderson Sisters worked with the rest of the iconic Disney villains to complete their evil spell. 

We wanted to go as Peter Pan and Tiger Lily from the movie Peter Pan. We tried to make as much of our costumes as possible. My mother even sewed my costume from scratch to get all the details correct to represent Tiger Lily accurately. We got many compliments on our costumes and people instantly recognized our characters. We even had some people ask if they could take pictures with us! This was all really exciting and we can’t wait to do this again next year. We saw some awesome and well done costumes that has given us inspiration for next year.

My Favorite Outfits from CD Covers

 

If you didn’t know, I am absolutely addicted to music. I have been trained on 3 different instruments (trumpet, trombone, and French horn) over the past 11 years and I attend concerts regularly every month. Given that I have this love for music and fashion, I decided to talk about my favorite CD cover fashion looks.

1.      Beyoncé Dangerously in Love

This was the first CD cover I thought of because growing up in the early 2000’s, this image is burned into my brain. I am pretty sure Beyoncé is the only artist that could pull this look off. She is literally dripping with diamonds! Well more likely rhinestones, but it is still fabulous. Who needs a real shirt when you can wear this see though sparkle top? She really is Sasha Fierce in this outfit and I absolutely love it.

2.      Katy Perry One of the Boys

Katy Perry embodies this vintage vibe on the cover of her first CD. Between her lawn chair, floppy brimmed hat, and sailor buttons, this look takes me back in time. Katy Perry came into the music scene big with this CD and this beautiful cover certainly helped her stand out. The bubblegum look stuck around and became her signature style.  

3.      Taylor Swift Speak Now

This album cover is what pops into my head when I think of young Taylor Swift. She had those iconic blonde curls and always wore these long, brightly colored gowns. I really love the movement in this picture. Her dress is being swept up into a whirlwind of motion while she looks so calm and serene.

4.      Adele 21

This is partially in honor of Adele’s new CD coming out and because her makeup looks on her CD covers are impeccable. She always looks gorgeous, classy, and sophisticated. I am also super excited to hear all of her new music!

I Love Twitches

Every year I look forward to October so I can watch all of my favorite Halloween movies. I absolutely love the 2005 Disney movie Twitches starring Tia and Tamara Mowery and the 2007 sequel Twitches Too. It is cheesy (seriously, what Disney movie isn’t?), but the movie is funny and nostalgic for me.

Now looking back, I realize the twins Camryn and Alex were the ultimate fashionistas of these movies and deserve some props.

Look how fierce these two look in their color coordinating outfits. Somehow they found a way to make layered tank tops look cool. No warlock is going to get in their way in these outfits!

 

 

The bohemian vibe Alex is giving off here is real. We were all culprits of the floating belt style by not putting the belt through the pant loopholes at one point or another. The twins were being extra sassy here and I love Camryn’s bubble gum pink prom dress. You can really tell the difference in the sister’s personalities with these outfits.

I loved these beautiful dresses the girls wore at the end of Twitches too. They were so regal and the colors and shapes of the dresses complimented them well. If I had to pick one though, I would pick Camryn’s ensemble. That maroon, basket weaved, off-the-shoulders top gives me life. I would feel like the belle of the ball in this dress.

thredUP, the Online Consignment Store

 

When it comes to a description of the company, the thredUP about us section on its website does it best. “thredUP is the easiest way to save money on great Women’s and Kids’ clothing brands and sell clothes for cash. We’re like a consignment store, but simpler. On thredUP you can refresh your entire wardrobe online without ever leaving your house.”

For someone who likes to shop with a tight and limited budget, I live for a good deal. This online consignment store seems to be too good to be true. They boast that they carry name brand clothing lines such as Kate Spade New York, Lululemon, and CrewCuts by J.Crew. It really is the next step to online shopping.

When I looked around their website I was impressed. The layout was user friendly and I enjoyed the wide variety of styles and products. You have to be quick though because the site only has one of each item. It is possible what you want might be sold if you wait a few days. The site has Women, Designer, Plus, Maternity, Shoes, Handbags, Girls, and Boys as their main sections of clothes to shop from all at great prices with up to 90% off of retail.

They have a feature that tells the shopper what condition the product is in and if there is a minor flaw, they will exactly where and what it is. This is really helpful because that is the one thing I am picky about when it comes to consignment shopping. I want to see if there are any flaws with the garment, and if there is anything wrong I want to know if I can fix it myself. We all know some things are just beyond repair. While looking around on the site though, I haven’t seen many with terrible flaws.

I haven’t bought anything yet from the site but you will be the first to know if I do!

My Fall Shopping Spree

I am sad because summer has come to a close and I have to accept that. I will miss the crop top, flip flop world I used to live in. As fall is starting, I am getting more and more excited for the fall attire. My excitement is matched by the lack of funds in my bank account due to my recent shopping spree. Completely justified by my need for a new fall wardrobe of course!

These suede boots from Amazon are beautiful. I normally wouldn’t buy good clothes from Amazon, but these were too amazing to pass up. The reason why I bought them over a faux leather pair was because of their texture and the little gold touch around the heel. The boots are unique and stylish and would look great with a pair of tight black pants. I don’t have tight black pants. This proved to be a problem so I headed to H&M for a quick solution.

At H&M these pants are called slim-fit treggings. They come in a variety of colors and prints and seem to be a combination of twill pants a leggings. I do believe these are the pants I have been searching for my entire life! I have always hated leggings because they have been traditionally too thin for my liking. The twill combination will make it elastic and stretchy like the legging, but with the sturdiness of the twill pant. This will be a great addition to my closet.

This is just a couple of the items I purchased but when I receive all of my packages I will make a post about it.
